Beam

Project Brief – BEAM Brand & Visual Identity

This engagement with BEAM involved crafting a distinctive visual identity for a dynamic cooperative federation

whose mission is to catalyse economic growth, community ownership and prosperity across Benue State. BEAM describes itself as “a people-powered initiative committed to transforming the economic future of Benue State, one community at a time.

Objectives

  • Create a modern yet approachable brand system that resonates with both youth and established community members.

  • Visually express BEAM’s values of unity, empowerment, sustainability and transparency.

  • Ensure flexibility so that the identity could be deployed across digital (website, social media) and print (stationery, signage, cooperative materials) environments.

  • Deliver a brand toolkit including logo variations, colour palette, typography, iconography and brand-guidelines.

Our Approach

We began by reviewing BEAM’s organisational purpose: “to see every community in Benue thrive—economically, socially, and spiritually—through ownership, innovation, and unity.” beam.com.ng From this foundation, the design system evolved around themes of growth (plant/seed/graph metaphors), connection (network of people/communities) and authenticity (grounded in local culture but with a forward-looking outlook).
The colour palette was selected to reflect vitality (greens/gold/blue) and hope, while typography and logo forms were chosen for clarity and scalability—balancing the young-vibrant with the credible-stable. The iconography system supports modular usage for training programmes, community outreach, cooperative groups, and more.
The toolkit was packaged for BEAM’s internal teams and cooperating partners to ensure consistent roll-out across all touch-points—uniforms, banners, digital posts, print documents, member-materials.

Task

We were asked to work out a new structure and to provide the necessary designs.

Outcome

The resulting visual identity positions BEAM not simply as an organisation, but as a movement — one that invites farmers, traders, artisans, youth, women and professionals to pool resources, build capacity and take ownership of Benue’s economic future. beam.com.ng+1 The identity delivers flexibility: it supports BEAM’s website, social-media presence, cooperative materials, membership drives and community-empowerment events.
By aligning distinctive graphic assets with BEAM’s compelling mission, the brand now stands ready to support the movement’s next phase of growth and visibility.

Role & Responsibilities

As the brand designer, visual-branding lead and web designer via my studio (Luvidion), I led concept development, identity system creation, brand-guideline documentation and the initial website template rollout. I worked closely with BEAM’s board of trustees to ensure that the visual language authentically represented their values and strategic direction.
